When we talk about César de Melero we are talking about one of the pioneers to bring House music into Spain. Many times he has been awarded in his long professional career and he is especially satisfied for his 2 DJ Awards received at Pacha Ibiza, Sept. ’05.
His last compilation “Clap Your Hands” (Volumen II), has again been nominated as best CD by the Spanish Deejay Mags and was also voted vest compilation by the readers of Spanish magazine “Trax”. He has been awarded a total of 4 Deejay Mag Awards and also by the SGAE (the equivalent to the MCBS in the UK). He was also voted one of the best 100 Djs by the English DJ Magazine on their issue 100. From the beginning of the 80’s and until now, César de Melero has managed to keep himself at its peak in the international DJ scene and is partly responsible for the popular Ibiza sound and the original “Balearic Beats” Recognised internationally through his Ibizean platform he has DJed in places as diverse as Tel-Aviv, Euro Disney, Gaudi’s Casa Batlló in Barcelona, Miami, Bali or Buenos Aires, to name a few…In 1987 Ars Estudio, the first House club in Spain, opened his doors in Barcelona where César was involved promoting and DJing for this venue. This venue was so glamorous that even had Keith Haring doing one of his mythical paintings, live at the club! He was the resident DJ at Ku club (later to become Pivilege) and one of the first DJs to spin at Pacha and Space, which helped him travelling all around the globe as a representative of the island that has been so influential when we talk about electronic music.
César de Melero was also the first one to start mixing Acid House in Spain, sound that later was been played all over the clubs and radios, so we can say he really was a pioneer. In 1992, together with his brother Chito de Melero, he managed to enter the British charts with his first production “Night Moves”, since then; he has continued producing with great success. In 1994, together with some Paris friends, they created Pro-Zak Trax, one of the labels more recognised in the electronic French scene. And under one his projects called D.O.D. (Dance or Die), he produced one of the house classics of all times: “1,2,3,4”. Actual projects include his summer residence at Amnesia’s terrace (Ibiza), each Saturday at the party “People From Ibiza” and his collaboration at the radio program “Aun no me he repuesto de la noche que pasé contigo” which gets broadcasted on RNE-3 (equivalent to the British BBC) every Saturday night.
And of course we must mention his album “My Definition” signed by Metropol Records (Defected and MOS distributors for Spain), together with Pepe Tucillo, under the name of “demetucci” which got awarded a “Deejay Mag Award” to best album (year 2007).
