I count twenty years of experience working in major radio networks (Rtl 102.5, Radio Kiss Kiss, Radio Italia Network)
Since 2005 i am working at Radio Monte Carlo. & since February 2017 i m producing
RMC VIP LOUNGE, the new Radio Show dedicated to Club Culture and Top DJs international; I select and mix the best Tracks plaied in the most important clubs in the world. The program is On-Air every Friday evening from 22.00 to 01.00, on RMC & simultaneously on RMC2 - FERNANDO YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING SINCE LONG TIME AT RADIO IBIZA IN THE SOUTH OF ITALY : WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THIS RADIO WORK EXPERIENCE ?
It has been absolutely my best life experience, it’s almost 30 years of music experience, connections and ackowledgement , I started my figure as a dj in a Radio and then in all best and famous clubs of Italy and all around the world.Working on a Radio,has allowed me to to meet and interact with thousand of people and insiders ,with whom I worked and still work today. - WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO PRODUCE TOGETHER AND WHY AKA JERK IN THE BOX ?HOW DID U CHOOSE YOUR TEAM NAME ?
We decided to work together because we’re friends first since long time an we tought that it could be interesting to mix all our experience and musical backgrounds . Jerk in the Box name has been chosen by Fernando before we met, it has a non real sense, but it sounds Good!!!! - PURPLE MUSIC RELEASED YOUR REMIX OF THE ITALIAN PRODUCERS ROCCO CARERI& ARTURO MACCHIAVELLI FT ELLICE : WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT IT ?
We decided to remix this single when we heard it for the first time , it was a good chance to start a cooperation with Purple Music , infact since we heard for the first time the accappella we imagined and worked for a great remix specially made for Purple , and we did it !!!!!!!! - FERNANDO YOU HAVE COLLABORATED IN THE PAST WITH SOME IMPORTANT NAMES OF IBIZA : IS IT RIGHT ?
Yes , above all with Dj Pippi , Cesar De Melero , and Tuccillo , specially with Tuccillo we keep on working together on new projects - LUCA WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO PLAY AS DJ ?

- From the last interview we made many things changed in your life for example we know that you became daddy for the 3rd time ! ?
Oh yes i did another great hit with my 3rd son Gregorio after my twins Filippo & Tommaso, 3 boys… !! it’s seventh heaven for me!! He gives me a lot of power - Your new productions for PURPLE DISCO RECORDS are very successful, especially DISCO KLAP.You always had this disco flava in your past releases with purple Music :what did inspire you creating recently DISCOKLAP DISCORLANDO & DISCOBIONIC ?
I m very happy of this vein of creativity and to be part of this new label it’s amazing for me !
I ‘m always inspired from what i feel, from my sensations and i always look forward…i think a lot before any release and then i put my ideas in the studio session with my playfellow Keller,a big producer and cult music lover!
Of course the disco music gave me always a lots joy as music genre since i was a child ….with the time i learned more and got inspired from that era. - Is it true that you will collaborate with Purple Disco Records as A&R ?
Yes and i m very happy about it!
When Jamie and Manuela proposed it to me : i couldn’t believe it !…
Purple Music has always been a music icon for me , it showed always a music coherence and great music flava and if i think now i can be apart of it as A&R , it pay me back and it shows me that the humility, passion and constancy i had during the past years at the end win ! thank you so much ! - What is coming next in your pipeline?
Many things and always more interesting: first of all my first Album «”DiscoTeca” » that will include all my disco unreleased productions& ideas..
I m also always looking for passionate people of this genre to produce them and i see that this music culture is becoming always more appreciated - Do you think that quality housemusic is coming back in Italy ?
I think so because a quality product is always appreciated
There is too much cheese sound « i call it random music »,”that makes tired after a short period so let’s give space to good music and to all people who are living of it ! - Dad, husband, producer, dj and swimming coach ,: what are you doing in your free time?
Everything ! dad when i m not working , husband when i can, producer every day, dj during the weekend and swimming coach always!
I m very lucky because my two big passions music and swimming became my main activities & work ! - What bothers you ?

I m very open for collaborations ,but if i have to mention one producer it’s Mousse T and the guru Jamie Lewis Lewis(with whom i start a collaboration almost 11 years ago with COLORS !) - Would you ever go to a Big brother casting ?
Absolutely not ! it would mean for me to have reached the end of the line and be outside of the music industry!
I would like to be remembered for my music not for a reality show, (a very short moment) Do you think that artists such as Frankie Knuckles(peace),Little Louie Vega,or Mousse T(just to name a few ones) or any big music producer could ever take such a kind of decision? - Next appointment with dj Walterino in a club is …
I have a couple of residencies in Mantova and Treviso cities, I m also scheduled to play in many italian regions such as Calabria, Tuscany , Umbria ..i m working on some very interesting situations..

10 QUESTIONS FOR SUBMANTRA
- You are an Italian dj & producer aka Submantra: how did u choose your artistic name?
My artistic name comes from the fusion of two words SUB and MANTRA. The beginning of all is the name mantra, that it refers to the Buddhist religion’s prays, but I chose this name, because in the 2004 I have collaborated with music groups of the Tibet and producing musical bases I tried to find a deep/sub side in the Tibetian mantra. From the binomial of these two important words, that they have started my carrier of producer, it comes the artistic name Submantra. - We know you from your productions and remixes on italian’s great label like Irma: which one have been the most successful?
There are a lot of my works that they have been published by IRMA RECORDS, but also by sublabel of IRMA, such as Soul deeparture Records, that is a music label that I manage from years with my associate DJ Umbi. Surely some of my remixes have had more successful on dance-floor and on web radio, that they play our music genre. These are : my remix FOUND LOVE by Double Dee belonging to the Hit of old the 90’s. I have proposed again a House version of this famous track belonging to the first 90’s Dance House. In this remix the track have been resung by talented Ely Bruna. Another memorable remix that I made last year and that it gave me a lot of satisfactions receving many positives feedbacks by Djs all over the world is the track Papik feat. Bengi & Stefy Gamboni – Brivido Felino (Submantra Cocktail chant remix). We also should not forget many other remixes, that I and Umbi together have made for Don Carlos, such as Take me Higher singing by the queen of the House Music, Michelle Weeks. - Do you consider or feel yourself more a producer or a Dj?
Honest? I consider me more Dj ! Because, I have begun to play with disks in the faraway 1993, when I was 13. Playing with the first vinyls at home it was a fantastic play for me, that it caught my attention more and more, almost as a drug. This my passion has developed in the years and it has improved myself professionally, carrying me to have a lot of experiences in Clubs and Discos of my city ( oriental Sicily). Since I have begun to produce my music and I have succeeded to make me know all over the world thanks to the publications with the Major, I have spread my circle of events, going also to over my loved Sicily. - Do you have your own recording studio?
Yes, I have a little home study that I call it Orange study, because the walls and the furniture are of orange colour. These colours make me happiness and to work with happiness it inspires me for right grooves. LOL - Your typical day in the sunny sicily 😀.
My typical Sicily’s day I live it for the most of time in my Orange studio, dedicating to my productions, searching more and more to improve me and to gift to my followers right grooves. I also spend a lot of time to listen to music generally and this helps me a lot to inspire me. I listen to many promos, that I receive daily in my e-mail and I also manage deep music house demos that arrive in Soul Departure’s e-mail. When I want to relax me, I go for a long walk with my dog in the little woods near my house. Instead, when I can, in the weekend, I love to go in the Mediterranean coast, where I love to spend the nights to fish under the stars of the Marina di Ragusa’s sea. - What is your big dream?
If we talk about music, I can say that I have already realised a lot of my dreams, because I would never have thought to be arrived at these levels, such as to collaborate with particular people and to succeed a day to publish by you Purple Music. You will not believe, but I have got almost your music vinyl collection. For me it was a dream to publish my production with Purple Music , instead I have succeeded and for me this is a pride, I always say it. - How is the house/underground scene in your city?
Catania is not a good city for the House/Underground scene. My city is a good city for Electro House Music, that I sincerely do not follow a lot. There are clubs, where you can play real house, the house that it like us, but these are little aperitive’s clubs. I hope that change something in the future. - Who /what inspires you?
Jamie Lewis! For me he is a the only MASTER ! I have always inspired me to him. I love his productions, his remixes, his way of being ‘’Purple’’ and I am happy that I also belong to your family. - Three of your qualities as person are:
Romantic, nostalgic and mad of music! lol - What we can expect from you next ?
There are several things ready that they will published in the next months. Soon two beautiful remixes will published by IRMA. One of these it is the remix that I have made to Soultrend Orchestra. The track is called Kings of the dance-floor and I have made a soulful re-edit that soon you will dance and hear. Instead, the second remix will be Neja – This is your life (Submantra soulful re-edit).

The Queen of the « Queen club » : Diva Avari originally from Boston: why did you move to the romantic & fashion city Paris ?
I used to model and work in the atelier for Boston Designer Geoffrey B. Small……I would come do the defile in Paris and each time it was harder too leave….
Boston is similar to Paris as it being a large city with a small village of people on the move; so I decided to pack my things and jump into the bigger pond. I also felt at home as if I knew Paris the first day I set foot….maybe in another incarnation? -
Is it true that you start your singer and dancer career officially at Palace with David & Cathy Guetta parties?
Yes, I was actually a go-go dancer when I first arrived….it wasn’t till I started to speak french that I could tell them I sing as well…..I did quite a few parties with the Guetta’s at Palace & Les Bains Douches….I have many fond memories of that period of Parisian nightlife -
1997 is officially the year of your first successful production“Lady Marmelade“ (Patty Labelle cover)
What has been your most successful songs/ releases since then ?
I would say 2006- Don’t Go was my first real commercial success……then 2017- was a very good year with Purple Music with Your Love, Rhythm is a dancer, and Live your Life. The dark horse has been Fuckin Bitch…..this song has been played over the world for the last 17 years and is the reason I’m so popular in Eastern Europe and Russia -
A typical Sunday for Diva Avari is……..
Sunday is my day off to rest/recover from the weekend(if I go out) and also the day I take to make an occasional mix for my Soundcloud… I like to share different kinds of music with people. -
Do you still like the nightlife in Paris ? which are your favourite place to go out?
Nightlife has changed so much in the last 23 years…….people aren’t as open and fun anymore. Young people seem sad and/or aggressive sitting in groups texting on their phones. I want to shake them and say lighten up, put the phone down and enjoy your youth while you can. There are thankfully a few places where you can actually enjoy music and dance. I only go out for special occasions and two different parties form time-to-time; MONA , a house party with a disco floor and house floor with fierce voguing…….then there’s Madame Klaude a special disco ball. Both have all ages and a public that appreciates good music & vibes -
Have you got any « life motto » ?
Actually have two!
1) Live Your Life in the moment
2) Be yourself because it’s too tiring trying to be something you’re not -
We have released three great songs from you together with producer Samy K & The French House Mafia how did u start your collaboration with him/them ?
We were introduced in 2004 by 2 separate friends at Banana Cafe where he used to Dj and at Club News Records where he worked…..I had recorded Fuckin Bitch in Estonia with Dj Raul Saaremets in 2001 and had been trying to get it signed with Tony Humphries but it took so long to find time to actually make it happen so fate brought me Samy. While recording our first track ” Feel the Chocho”…. I let him listen to it to see if he’d want to re-do it with me. Fourteen years later we’re still going strong! -
If you could live in another place of the world where would it be and why ?
Good question……Paris is my home …..I’m too old to start over with another language lol.
But If I had to got back to the States…..I’d probably move to Chicago… I really like that city it’s got a-lot of different cultural ethnicities and the nightlife is the bomb> I actually got to see Frankie Knuckles before he passed>>>it was a pure night of musical delight -
where are you performing at the moment?
I perform all over the world… I just got back from 2 concerts New Years Night in Riga, Latvia. -
what are your next projects?
Today, I’m in the studio with Samy for our next track. Next week, I’ll be recording a commercial dance track with DJ Axel Bampton.
Coming soon The French House Mafia will produce a duet with myself and disco diva Carol Jiani…..excited for that!

- When did u start your dj carrer?
In 1995, my career started as resident DJ “Tricasse” a nightbar in the center of the city of Troyes, France. I played imported Deep & Soulful House vinyls, that I went to buy every month in Paris (Discoparnasse shop) or Auxerre (Attitude shop) more than 100 km from my home. At this time we had to move to buy music. - which were the most famous clubs where you have played?
In Paris, at Queen, Elysée Montmartre, Nouveau Casino, Folie’s Pigalle, Gibus, Bains Douches, L’Enfer, Studio 287… In Moscow, at La Fabrique and Le Casino Europe, Twist Club in Miami , Patipa in Kiev, Séduction Discothèque in Tallinn, In Poland (Roentgen, Kokon club, Lemadame), In Tunisia (Calypso, Odéon), in Switzerland (VIP Club, Velvet), in Portugal (Living Opera)… - why /when did you decide to become a producer?
Like every DJ, I dreamed about producing a vinyl and making a full club of people dance to my own music. I really had a passion for House Music and all my mentors in this genre of underground music, were both DJ & Producer themselves. So to me it was evident that I should follow their example… I released my first EP : Samy K – “Party Time” in 2000. - When did you start your collaboration with Diva Avari?
My first collaboration with Diva Avari was in 2005 with a track I produced with Jean-Phi Sanchez for Banana Café (Paris) : “Feel The Chocho”. When I recorded Diva, she made a so sexy vocal just in front of me that I stayed under the shock : so impressed with her amazing voice.
But I really discovered her potential and who she was…once I began to play with her for live shows in clubs; on stage she is the Queen! - What about Purple Music?
I saw and heard Jamie Lewis for the first time in Ibiza in 2003, during an outdoor party he made with DJ Pippi. That crazy night, he played his amazing hit “The Light” Feat Michelle Weeks… Ever since, I am a big fan of him so I support (buy/play) his music in my DJ Sets.
Since 2016, we’re very happy to be part of the Purple Family : “Your Love”, “Rhythm Is A Dancer”, “Live Your Life”… Our music is being played by DJ’s all over the world (even in South Corea) so we are really proud of it
It’s also an opportunity for us to make some great musical collaborations with other Purple Artists like Jamie Lewis, Selva Basaran, Rob Hayes…
We wish to have a long collaboration with Purple Music - what inspires you for a new production?
DISCO FUNK & HOUSE all around me
New production starts with a good hook that inspires me, a loop groovy enough that I can see in my mind a gogo dancing on the podium; which means there is something I can do with this. Ideas can really come from anywhere. Our approach is to make old school music using the most recent technology.
And for sure, Diva Avari’s voice is very inspiring by itself. She’s also able to write lyrics, find melodies and record her own backing vocals. Which are all real avantages for building good accapellas… - Are you a part of the French House Mafia team?
Yes, I am the Dj half of the team. Since 2008 : I make the beats, research sounds, do vocal editing, arrangement of the track.
The other half of French House Mafia is my music partner, since the beginning, Lutz Volcano. He is a multi-task man : guitarist, bassist, composer, sound engineer but also an excellent artistic director. We do all production together.
But neither he nor I are singers…that’s why we launched in 2016 the band : “Diva Avari & The French House Mafia”
We also collaborate with other french artists like Francesco Soares, Tommy Glasses… We all share the same passion for House Music - If you would win the lottery what will you do?
I love France but I think I’d move to Ibiza to live, staying there most of the time. I am in love with this crazy island. I would buy a nice villa with swimming pool to receive my friends and for sure an amazing studio for working on my music. - Which are your favorite places in Paris to go out for clubbing?
Djoon : it is not a big place but the music there is one of the best in Paris, if you like Deep & Soulful like me. They recently received artists like Sandy Rivera, Little Louis Vega …
But to be honest, I go clubbing in Paris less and less, mostly from lack of time. - What are you music plans for the 2018?
In the beginning of this year, we plan to finish 2 new, very exciting productions for “Diva Avari & The French House Mafia” : which are well on their way…
There’s also another project we’ve had in mind for several months now…
We’re preparing a new special Purple Liveshow for clubs: 1 Singer (DIVA AVARI) + 1 DJ (SAMY K) + 1 Guitarist (LUTZ VOLCANO) : 100% Live playing their Purple tracks
